Birds and Blooms Workshop with Jill Schaulis

Machine Quilting with Rulers on a Domestic Sewing Machine
Using a ruler is a great way to quilt smooth straight lines or curves without messing up the “flow” of free motion quilting. If you’ve been wondering how to add ruler work to your domestic machine quilting repertoire, this workshop is for you. There will be two workshops with a maximum of only 15 students in each. This means more one on one time with the teachers. You will get a great deal of practice and mentoring in this workhop. Join Debbie and Bobbi for a very valuable workhop.
Classes taught on Oct 24 and October 25 are the same class. Sign up for the one date that works best for you.

Join Denyse Schmidt, former graphic designer and graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, as she takes you on a richly visual (and sometimes hilarious) journey highlighting the twists and turns, the influences and inspirations, that led to her unique quilts becoming a commercial venture in 1996.
BORO—Small Project Design
Learn BORO, with expert June Colburn. It is the traditional Japanese stitching technique used to mend clothing and bedding using layers of fabric and running stitches.

Boro stitching is a Japanese textile art form that involves repairing and reworking clothing and bedding using scraps of fabric and running stitches.
The story of boro in Japan is the story of lives lived in extreme poverty, by hardworking people who had little, but still admired beauty and kept/repaired their valuable textiles—not just for years, but for lifetimes.
A Mystery Quilt with Pat Yamin
A Mystery Quilt ! Join renowned quilter Pat Yamin and make a Mystery Quilt made from kits containing laser cut fabric making them very easy to piece. All fabrics needed to finish the top are included in the kit.

What makes a quilt an antique? The piecing by hand or machine, quilt pattern, weave and color of the fabric, as well as the batting are taken into consideration when identifying the age of a quilt.

I have been quilting for over 40 years, and for 35 of those years, my husband was Active Duty Army. He and I have traveled all over the world together, for both business and pleasure.
This trunk show presentation is an exploration of the different styles of quilting and needlework that I have encountered in my travels.

Special Events—Snow Much Fun
Faithful Circle’s Holiday Party will be on December 11 th at 6:00 pm in the fellowship hall of the church, a
purchased ticket required.
Tickets are sold out but please contact Becky Anuskiewicz to be placed on the waiting list if a cancelation
ticket becomes available.
It’s going to be Snow Much Fun with delicious food from Paisans of Lisle, the ever popular 6” block
fabric exchange, plus comedic entertainment.
We will continue the tradition of the 6” square fabric exchange. In keeping with our Snow Much Fun
theme, the 6” squares exchanged should be snow themed fabric. Snowflakes, snowmen, snowballs,
snow angels are all included in the fun. Start with 1 yard of quilt store quality fabric and cut it up into
forty-two 6” squares. The fabric square exchange is an optional activity but has been a highlight of past
holiday parties. Participants will divide into groups and form circles, and then we’ll take turns walking
around the circle to trade squares. If you haven’t participated in the exchange before and think this
sounds a little crazy, be assured that it works and it’s a lot of fun. Bring your squares, jump in, and you’ll
take home 42 new Snow Much Fun 6” squares.
Show you care, Donate Underwear is back again. In the spirit of sharing, we are collecting new bras and
underwear with tags, to be given to DuPagePads. https://dupagepads.org/about-dupagepads/ Your
donated underwear will help the homeless throughout DuPage County.
